REVIEW: Getting Down with Six The Musical.

Talk about wrapping up the 2022-2023 KeyBank Broadway Series with a pop! The talent that took the Connor Palace stage tonight was so phenomenal. From the quirky Anne Boleyn portrayed by Zan Berube who just gave off so much sass and hilarious reactions throughout the show to Amina Faye who played Jane Seymour leaving everyone speechless and emotional with her stunning rendition of Heart of Stone. You also learn more than what the soundtrack gives off – like Katherine Howard’s traumatizing experience beautifully portrayed by Aline Mayagoitia. The shy and caring side of the surviving Queen Catherine Parr who had to leave the love of her life to marry the King.

Parr was brought to life by Sydney Parra. Kicking off the night, as Aline said in our interview, is the hardest thing to do and Gerianne Perez, who played Catherine of Aragon, really brought the energy singing her song NO WAY. It was such a fun piece to get the story kicked off after Ex-Wives, the opening number. The last of the six wives gave a whole different attitude to the show! Anna of Cleves who was portrayed by Terica Marie, has insane vocals, a confident attitude, and hip moves to show while basking in her freedom after surviving her marriage to the King and divorcing him (even after losing the dance battle to the girl in the front row)!

Overall, the show was the perfect way to end the 2022-2023 season. The production and lighting were so fitting with amazing elements that would surprise you during certain songs. You could tell that it was only the second night in Cleveland with some timing on light cues being off, but overall, it was a fun and crazy 85 minutes at Connor Palace Theater. If you love pop music with a bit of history mixed in, go see SIX The Musical before it leaves town on September 10th.
