Broadway Stars to Shine at EJ Thomas Hall with Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now!

Published on

Akron audiences will soon experience Broadway up close when three acclaimed leading ladies bring their new concert, Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now, to EJ Thomas Hall this fall.

Tony Award winner Marissa Jaret Winokur (Hairspray), Tony Award nominee Laura Bell Bundy (Legally Blonde), and Tony Award nominee Kerry Butler (Beetlejuice) are uniting for Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now, a concert blending show-stopping musical numbers with comedy and candid behind-the-scenes stories from their lives on stage and beyond.

Between them, the trio has starred in 16 Broadway productions and appeared in more than 200 television episodes. The performance will feature songs from Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Wicked, Beetlejuice, Xanadu, Little Shop of Horrors, The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast, among other Broadway favorites.

For Bundy, the night will also mark a return home. The actress and singer, best known for originating the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde on Broadway, grew up in Euclid, Ohio, before launching her career in New York.

The concert, which organizers describe as a celebration of “two decades of friendship, motherhood, and unforgettable stage moments,” is scheduled for Friday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. at EJ Thomas Hall.
