Playhouse Square has announced the lineup for its 10th season of Broadway in Akron, bringing a mix of beloved classics and fan-favorite musicals to EJ Thomas Hall for the 2025-2026 season.
The season opens with the hilariously irreverent Book of Mormon on September 30 – October 1. Created by South Park’s Trey Parker and Matt Stone, this Tony Award-winning musical satire follows two young missionaries as they attempt to share their faith in a remote Ugandan village—with unexpectedly hilarious results.
Just in time for the holiday season, Elf The Musical arrives in November. Based on the hit 2003 film starring Will Ferrell, this festive musical follows Buddy, a human raised by Santa’s elves, as he embarks on a journey to New York City to discover his true identity. With plenty of holiday cheer and upbeat songs, it’s a family-friendly favorite.
“Reaching the tenth anniversary of Broadway in Akron is a testament to the incredible season ticket holders who have been with us every step of the way,” said David Greene, Senior Vice President of Programming at Playhouse Square. “It’s been a decade of remarkable performances and stories that have touched our hearts. We are thrilled to continue sharing the magic of Broadway with Akron audiences for years to come.”
“Help is on the way, deary!” Akron audiences can look forward to Mrs. Doubtfire making a return to Northeast Ohio. Inspired by the 1993 Robin Williams film, this heartwarming and hilarious musical follows out-of-work actor Daniel Hillard, who disguises himself as a Scottish nanny to stay close to his children after a messy divorce.
Closing out the season in February 2026 is the timeless classic The Music Man—but don’t expect to see Hugh Jackman! However, fans can still look forward to the toe-tapping spectacle of Meredith Willson’s beloved musical about a charismatic con man who unexpectedly finds love in small-town America.
Season tickets for the 2025-2026 Broadway in Akron series are on sale now, starting at $80 at PlayhouseSquare.org/Akron.
