The folks booking shows at the Akron Civic have been busy. Over the last few days, they have announced two blockbuster comedy shows featuring some very A-list talent.
First up is Tim Allen – he will be performing an 18-and-over show on Saturday, June 29th. The show will start at 7 PM. The press materials remind us:
“America’s favorite dad is back with a brand-new tour, and Tim Allen fans won’t want to miss out on the fun! The long-time actor and comedian’s stock in trade has long been a begrudging befuddlement at the world around him, and that world’s given him plenty to joke about over the last few years. And he’s ready to share those jokes with his biggest fans across North America!”

Then – just a few short weeks later the venue will host one of today’s hottest comics – Pete Davidson.
Out on his 2024 PREHAB tour, Davidson will appear on Friday, July 12th at 7 PM.
Here’s what the press release tells us about this outing:
“Pete Davidson is the creator, executive producer, writer and star of Peacock’s critically acclaimed comedy “Bupkis.” Davidson was a cast member on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” from 2014-2022, where his singular Weekend Update features and original music videos garnered millions of views.
Davidson shot his first one-hour stand-up special for Comedy Central in 2016 and was named one of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 the same year. In 2020, he released the stand-up special “Pete Davidson: AliveFrom New York.” Davidson was listed as one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People of 2022.
In 2020, Davidson co-wrote, executive produced, and starred in the critically acclaimed film “The King of Staten Island.” Additional film work includes “Trainwreck,” “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” “Big Time Adolescence,” “Set It Up,” “Meet Cute,” and “Bodies Bodies Bodies.” Upcoming projects include “Dumb Money,” “Wizards!” and “I Slept with Joey Ramone.”
