Broadway’s buzziest new musical is heading to Northeast Ohio, and in a pretty big way.
The Lost Boys will launch its North American National Tour at Playhouse Square in Spring 2028, making Cleveland the first city in the country to see the touring production. The show is based on the 1987 Warner Bros. film and opened on Broadway just last month, on April 26.
“We’re thrilled to announce that The Lost Boys will launch its North American tour in Cleveland, delivering the acclaimed artistry, breathtaking flying sequences, and heartfelt story of family that have captivated audiences at The Palace Theatre to cities across the country,” said producers James Carpinello, Marcus Chait, and Patrick Wilson.
The show currently holds 12 Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, and critics have piled on the praise. Think massive aerial sequences, a three-level crypt set that takes full advantage of The Palace Theatre’s height, and a brooding indie rock score from The Rescues that leans hard into the ’80s.
The story follows a mother and her two teenage sons who move to a sun-soaked coastal town looking for a fresh start — and quickly discover that something very wrong happens after dark. If you’ve seen the movie, you know the vibe.
“The Lost Boys is already generating buzz on Broadway having just garnered 12 Tony nominations. Here in Cleveland, we are ready to do the same when we partner with the producers to launch the national tour at Playhouse Square in the Spring of 2028,” said Craig Hassall, Playhouse Square President and CEO.
The Broadway cast features Tony nominees Shoshana Bean and Ali Louis Bourzgui, among others. Tour casting hasn’t been announced yet.
Additional tour cities and dates will be announced down the road. Keep an eye on playhousesquare.org for Cleveland ticketing info when it becomes available.
