Upright Man, a new up and coming indie rock band based out of New York City, is set to release their self-titled debut album on August 18th.

The band consists of Aidan Dolan- guitars and vocals, Nick Katz- bass and vocals and Max Yassky- drums and background vocals.  The trio met at New York University while studying classical music composition.  After working together on various projects, they decided to start writing together and soon after, Upright Man was formed.

They are influenced by such legendary artists like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, the Beatles and Radiohead. Upright Man combines those influences throughout their 10 track album with outstanding results.  Psychedelic, classic rock, and acoustic songs are all mixed together with nice vocal arrangements.

The album kicks off with “Elysia” which is a great indie rock song.  “Agoragnostic” and “Ecstasy” have a more psychedelic feel with great vocal harmonies.  One of my favorite tracks, “Say What You Want” starts off with an acoustic guitar and ends up rocking out with an electric guitar by the songs end.

Other stand out tunes include “Upright Man” and the album closing “Checked Out.”

Upright Man is a band worth putting on your radar.  There is something for everyone on this great debut album.
