For this month’s installment of Supporting The Scene, I’ve included 5 local bands that are gaining popularity – and fast! While some may have been at this a little longer than others, that doesn’t make their drive or their work ethic any less than 110%. With so many awesome shows and album releases coming up, be sure to take a few minutes and check each of these bands out! That Ship’s Sailed
Hometown: Columbus, OH
Genre: post-hardcore/post pop punk

A 5-piece band out of Columbus, That Ship’s Sailed is already making waves in their local scene. They were on a recent episode of Gear Time, where they give fans a run-down of all their equipment they use! Their much-anticipated EP, “Trapped in the Middle” will be released this Saturday (2/4) at the band’s EP Release Show at Woodland’s Tavern. The show features an incredible lineup of some of the best local talent around, including Heroes Like Villains, A Decade Apart, Ohio On Hi, Memory Drive and Odd Promise. Wait For The Day
Hometown: Columbus, OH
Genre: Melodic Metalcore

When you’re opening for bands like Glass Houses and After The Burial, then you know you must be doing something right, and that’s exactly what Wait For The Day is doing. After the drop of their progressive metal song “Guilt” in June of 2016, the band followed up with the release of their “Admit Change” EP in October of the same year. The band recently nailed a spot in Round 2 of the Tri-C High School Rock Off where they will be competing for a chance to appear on the Cleveland date of the Vans Warped Tour. The band will compete amongst other artists this Saturday (2/4) where the winners will rock out one more time against winners from the other rounds during the ‘Final Exam’ at the end of February. The Orphan The Poet
Hometown: Dayton, OH
Genre: Alternative

A music video playing in all Journey’s stores, a spot in the Firefly Music Festival lineup, upcoming benefit shows… is there anything TOTP can’t do? This 4-piece mosh machine released their EP “Terrible Things” in June of 2016 and have been gaining momentum ever since. Even Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson took notice of their “Terrible Things” music video, giving them a shout out and a retweet! These guy will be playing a hometown show this Saturday (2/4) which you can grab tickets for HERE. TOTP is an amazing band to watch live, so if you enjoy obnoxious singing, random dancing and making new friends, then be sure to grab your tickets now!





Set Sail to March
Hometown: Cleveland, OH
Genre: Pop Punk/Metalcore

Breaking into the music scene in June of 2015, Set Sail to March has already shared the stage with some amazing bands such as Ice Nine Kills, Vanna, Famous Last Words, and Alesana. The band recently released a single titled “Leave This Behind” which is the title track from their much-anticipated upcoming EP. You can hear this and many other awesome tracks at their upcoming show ‘Marg Madness’ on March 4th at The Foundry. The show will feature other locals such as A Sense Of Purpose, Defy Reality, Self Centered Apocalypse, Savannah Smiles and Life Through Portraits. Van Evera

Formally known as As Dark As Day, Van Evera is taking their new name and coming out swinging! They recently held their “Remnants” EP release show on Jan 21st at The Foundry, not only dropping some amazing headbangers but putting on a mosh-worthy show even the best metalcore bands would be proud of. Van Evera recently snagged a spot opening for Like Moths To Flames and Sworn In as they come to Lakewood on March 15th. Tickets for the event can be purchased HERE.
