Scott Hamilton and Friends, featuring five-time Grammy winner Michael McDonald, put on an outstanding show at Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday evening.  This is the 17th consecutive year that Hamilton has hosted this fundraiser for The Cleveland Clinic.

The ninety minute performance consisted of various routines performed by some of the top ice skaters in the world.  The grace, beauty, elegance and strength displayed by these athletes is something to behold.

While the skaters were on the ice, the former Doobie Brother, Michael McDonald and his great five-piece backing band were at one end of the arena and played the music for each skaters performance.

McDonald’s soulful voice was in tip-top shape as he played songs from every aspect of his career.  Solo hits like “Sweet Freedom” and “I Keep Forgetting,” Doobie Brothers tunes “Minute by Minute” and “What a Fool Believes” and he even put his spin on a couple of cover songs like “What the World Needs Now Is Love” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”

The evening ended with Hamilton and all of the skaters on the ice while McDonald and company played “Takin’ it to the Streets.”

It was a great event where you got an awesome concert, incredible skating performances; while the proceeds went to the Taussig Cancer Institute.

It was a win for everyone involved!
