I clearly remember the first time I attended an REO Speedwagon show – it was a few years before they hit superstar status with their Hi-Infidelity album and “Take It On The Run” became a radio staple. Their claim to fame at the point of their career (the late 70’s) was Ridin’ The Storm Out. Blackfoot opened the show – it was an amazing night of rock and roll.
But it was the 1980’s that belonged to REO Speedwagon – with the release of the aforementioned Hi-Infidelity album, the band became a household name and rock superstardom followed. Recording and performing for nearly 50 years – the band will pull into the Hard Rock Rocksino in Northfield on Nov. 30th and proceed to rock the shirts off anyone who dares step foot in the venue.
From the press release:
“Formed in 1967, signed in 1971, and fronted by iconic vocalist Kevin Cronin since 1972, REO Speedwagon has rocked to the top of the charts with a RIAA-certified 22 million albums sold in the U.S., 40 million around the globe, and a string of worldwide hit singles. The group’s landmark album, Hi Infidelity, spent 15 weeks in the #1 slot and has received the RIAA’s Diamond Award for 10X platinum sales. Thirty–plus years since that release, Cronin and bandmates Bruce Hall (bass), Neal Doughty (keyboards), Dave Amato (lead guitar) and Bryan Hitt (drums) are still electrifying concert audiences with fan favorites such as “Keep On Loving You,” “In Your Letter,” “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “Take It On the Run,” “Time For Me To Fly,” “Roll With The Changes,” and many, many, more.”
It’s going to be a night of “do not miss” classic rock. Let’s go over those show details one more time – shall we?
