Country/Pop siblings The Band Perry will bring their tour to Northfield’s Hard Rock Rocksino this coming Saturday night.

The trio, known for such Country crossover tunes as “If I Die Young,” “Pioneer” and “Better Dig Two,” have decided to take their Southern roots and dye them black. Their new unreleased album My Bad Imagination is a departure from their last two efforts, which placed them squarely in the Country/Pop genre than their new effort which appears to be a straight-up pop album.

All three siblings, Kimberly on lead vocals, Reid on bass and backup vocals, and Neil on accordion, mandolin and backup vocals, have eschewed their more traditional (well, traditional in the sense that they have two albums under their belts) look and have undertaken a more flashy, black leather-clad style with their new album.

Will it sell in Peoria? Only time will tell.

Let’s hope that the new album is poppy enough to bring them a new audience but not so different from their older tunes that it alienates their core following…we all remember Chris Gaines and how well that went, right?

A talented ensemble, the band broke out with their mega-hit “If I Die Young,” which charted at #1 on the Country charts. They also won the Academy of Country Music Awards’ 2010 “Top New Artist” and “Top New Vocal Group.” In 2011, they took the “Breakthrough Video of the Year” at the CMT Awards for “If I Die Young.”

The accolades not subsiding, they also won three awards at 2011’s CMA Awards for “New Artist of the Year” and “If I Die Young” took home two awards for “Single of the Year” and “Song of the Year.”

Quite a set of accomplishments for such a young group.

Their sophomore effort Pioneer was released in 2013. They went on to win a Grammy award in 2015 for “Best Country Duo/Group Performance” for the beautiful “Gentle on My Mind.”
