Columbus-based indie/math pop band Playing To Vapors are set to release their debut album Shred The Master Design on June 16th, and what better way to celebrate than with a CD release show on June 24th at The Beachland Ballroom?! The band released “Switchblade”, the first single from the album, on Idobi Radio along with an official music video which you can catch below.
The album is a follow-up to the band’s 2015 EP release A Glitch In The Void which landed them an opening spot at Bunbury Music Festival. While the debut album will have many similar elements to the band’s EP, they did decide to take a different route by recording to tape for the first time ever.
“The writing process for this song was very collaborative. It started as a guitar riff, and each member continued to add to the song until it grew into not only ‘Switchblade,’ but also into the next track, ‘Answers.’ I think this song serves as a centerpiece for the record as a whole, both in sonic aesthetic and meaning.”
-Lucas Harris, vocalist
