Combining surf rock, hard rock and a dash of psychedelic lyrics, the band had modest success in the States but became sensations overseas. Breaking up in the early 1990s, they re-formed in 2004. The quartet still flourishes; all the original members of the outfit still tour and record, sans bass player Kim Deal. After Ms. Deal left the band in 2013 she was replaced by Paz Lenchantin, who was made a permanent member of the band last year.

The Agora Theater, recently acquired by promoter AEG, has invested a significant amount of money into the historic structure. Look for upgrades to the sound and lighting systems, HVAC systems, and parking. More importantly, you’ll see a more diverse set of musicians playing the theater, The Pixies being one of the bands that the new management hoped to attract.
