A night full of great music is hard to beat, unless that night involves some of Ohio’s best local bands in an acoustic charity show benefiting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. This Sunday, April 23rd, you can enjoy an intimate acoustic performance from six of our area’s finest bands – and the best part? All proceeds will be donated to the AFSP. A benefit CD featuring not only the performing bands, but many others from the area, will be sold during the event for $5. Only 50 of these bad boys will be available, so make sure you get there early to snag your copy!
A show of this stature doesn’t happen overnight. Columbus-based band That Ship’s Sailed became host of such an event after member Mike Colletti brought the idea to his bandmates:
“Our reasoning started with a conversation about how we want our music to effect many in a positive way and to make a difference big or small in the lives of those who will listen. This got me on a path of what can I do to not only display the talent of Ohio but to give to a cause that hits home for many within the scene. I got together with my band and with the collective of Ohio musicians and we brainstormed charities. We soon after landed on The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Everything fell into place thereafter with help from Justin Moegling from Absolute Hero. I’m hoping this event will create a call to action from other states.”
-Mike Colletti, That Ships’s Sailed
