The New Orleans Jazz Orchestra has announced two events that will kick off its Fall season. The two events are NPR’s “Jazz Night in America”  on October 24 and the Jazz Orchestra’s Showcase Concert on October 26th.

Both performances will take place at the New Orleans Jazz Market. “Jazz Night America” will feature Christian Scott and aTunde Adjuah, and the Showcase Concert will be the first official performance featuring the group’s new leadership.

Artistic Director and Bandleader, Adonis Rose, and New Orleans Jazz Orchestra’s President and CEO, Sarah Bell were selected for leadership in 2017 by the orchestra’s board of directors.

Rose has won a Grammy Award as a drummer, and has performed with Grammy winners Wynton Marsalis and Dianne Reeves, as well as Harry Connick Jr. Bell has worked with local and national non-profits to support New Orleans’ culture and has been with the organization since 2013, and hopes to focus the organization on its future.

“Our devoted Board of Directors, generous individual supporters, and dedicated corporate sponsors have given us the margin to continue focusing on what we do best, which is providing authentic and meaningful experiences through the lens of Jazz. Our community programming has continued to thrive and with the return of extraordinary music to the Market, we are eager to reveal the future of our organization,” said Bell.
