Wednesday, May 2nd through May 27th you can catch this award winning broadway hit at Playhouse Square in Cleveland.   The kickoff of Disney’s Aladdin  will take place with it’s first showing at the Key State Bank Theatre. In 1992, Disney’s Aladdin was a critical box office slam, acclaiming it’s own place as highest-grossing film of the year. This being said, we can’t wait to see what a live performance and 26 years will bring to us.

Winning an Oscar for Best Original Score, and introducing long time hit A Whole New World which one the second of the film’s two Academy Awards for Best Original Song. The recording completed by Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle of the song reached a jaw-dropping #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. In addition the film was not only designed by seven-time Tony-winning scenic designer Bob Crowley, but also six-time Tony-winning lighting designer Natasha Katz, Tony-winning designer Greg Barnes, and music arranger Glen Kelly.

In addition to the many stunning names listed, the film was also produced by Disney Theatrical Productions. The show features music by Tony Award and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken, lyrics by two-time Oscar winner Howard Ashman, Three time Tony Award and Oscar Award winning Tim Rice, four-time Tony award nominated Chad Begeulin, and is directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw.

In regards to the Musical, Aladdin opened on Broadway in New Amsterdam Theatre to critical acclaim on March 20, 2014, and was quickly acclaiming its path alone of the biggest blockbusters in recent years, in the process breaking 12 New Amsterdam Theatre house records and drawing in well over seven million people worldwide. In addition to performances during two U.S. productions, the musical has additionally been shown in places such as Tokyo, Hamburg, London, and Melbourne. 

The production features Clinton Greenspan (Aladdin), Michael James Scott (Genie), Isabelle McCalla (Jasmine), Jonathan Weir (Jafar), Jay Paranada (Iago), Jerald Vincent (Sultan), Zach Bencal (Babkak), Philippe Arroyo (Omar), Jed Feder (Kassim), Korie Lee Blossey (Standby Genie & Sultan), Ellis C. Dawson III (Standby Genie & Babkak) and Adam Stevenson (Standby Jafar & Sultan).

In Cleveland, Aladdin will play Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30PM, Saturdays at 1:30 and 7:30PM and Sundays at 1:00 and 6:30PM.  There will also be 1:30PM matinees on Thursday, May 3, and Thursday, May 24.
